The Computer Science and Engineering Department has very close ties to "local" industry - perhaps the largest concentration of computer-related companies in the world is just 30-45 minutes away in Silicon Valley. Faculty and students collaborate with industry on many research projects, often meeting in person. As a result, our research is used in industry, and our students get internships and permanent jobs at leading companies, both large and small, including CreateSpace, Data Domain, Google, Hewlett Packard, IBM, NetApp, Oracle, Symantec, and Yahoo.
Companies that collaborate on research are more likely to hire graduating students, providing both jobs for the graduates and a mechanism for transferring new knowledge to industry. The following is a partial list of companies collaborating with Computer Science Department researchers.
