The SIM (Semantic Interior Mapology) web tool has been launched online for anyone to use. Using SIM’s intuitive interface, you can quickly and precisely trace the layout of a building starting from an existing map. SIM then produces a digital representation of the building’s interior in GeoJSON (a standard format), and renders it in 3-D on a regular web browser.

On October 31st, six leading figures from the broader engineering and technology community converged on UC Santa Cruz for the inaugural Baskin School of Engineering Dean’s Council meeting. The mission of the Council is to help ensure that the bold research and well-rounded graduates of Baskin Engineering can best be deployed in the world beyond UC Santa Cruz.
