The recently launched Generative AI Center at UC Santa Cruz, based at both the main campus and at the UCSC Silicon Valley campus in Santa Clara, is bringing together university researchers and industry partners for collaboration, innovation, and impact at the cutting edge of the field.

The Center welcomes new industry partners to expand their work in shaping foundational technologies, developing innovative applications, and creating ethical guidelines for this rapidly evolving technology. Research led out of the Generative AI Center is at the forefront of areas such as RAG and multi-AI agents, robotics, and the application of AI to fields like healthcare, biotechnology, education, the humanities and more.

“Our center’s broader mission is to build an open and inclusive AI ecosystem where academia, industry, and the community can share ideas and create tangible solutions to many open questions in our field,” said Yi Zhang, director of the Generative AI Center and a professor of computer science and engineering. “The UCSC GenAI Center is distinguished by its integration of world-class research, its strategic location in Silicon Valley, and its commitment to the public mission of the university—driving innovation, fostering inclusion, and exercising responsible leadership in the AI era.”

Partnerships are welcome at multiple levels, providing varying access to seminars and workshops, faculty consultation, advisory boards, sponsored research, and more. Please reach out to John Tannaci, Senior Director of Corporate Engagement, at jtannaci@ucsc.edu for more information on the affiliation program.

The center is already building momentum with community members as part of recent events including SF Tech Week’s “AI Frontier: Data, Agents & Robots” and the Bay Learn Symposium on machine learning. These events have attracted many students, alumni, investors, startup founders, corporate executives and researchers from Silicon Valley and beyond. Alumni and industry leaders are invited to join upcoming events and help shape the future of AI innovation.
