Applied Mathematics

Applied Mathematics is a discipline that intersects many fields such as physical sciences, engineering, biology, biomedicine, and sociology. Applied mathematicians develop analytical and numerical tools and use them to explain the dynamic world around us and to guide the engineering of future technology.

Mission: To engage in highly interdisciplinary and collaborative research, while training a diverse workforce, in order to transform technology, lead scientific discovery, and promote positive change in society.

Values: We stand for excellence through diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and well-being, which we aim to achieve through equity-minded education.

Vision: To become an intellectual hub for applied mathematics in a changing world by bringing in students, faculty, and visitors with a broad range of backgrounds, experiences, and expertise.

Safeguarding our ecosystems
