The Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz hosted the inaugural Baskin Engineering Climate Week April 21-25, 2025, focused on making connections between climate issues and the impact of sustainability research and teaching. The event brought together students, faculty, staff, alumni, campus partners, and the local community to highlight groundbreaking research and educational initiatives aimed at addressing the climate crisis.

Salma Qadiri is a third year UC Santa Cruz computer science student, minoring in applied mathematics. She gained support and resources at Baskin Engineering through the MESA Engineering Program and found community with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).

Anuj Kumar, who completed his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in June 2023 with Professor Pascale Garaud and is currently the Morrey Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at UC Berkeley, was awarded the Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award in Fluid Mechanics of the American Physical Society.
Nicholas Rondoni, a Ph.D. student in Applied Mathematics at UC Santa Cruz, won the Best Poster award at the Northern and Central California section meeting of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
